Camber Foreshore: Byelaws and Management Protocols

Motorised Vehicles


It is illegal to take vehicles onto the beach. Owners of properties, however, have the right to alight and exit their properties. It is acceptable for one vehicle (4×4) per property to be permitted to access and park on or closely adjacent to that property during a stay.* Access at High Tide is not advised, and movements should be kept to a minimum, with no deviation from property to car park route.


*PLEASE NOTE THIS IS JUST FOR SEABREEZES. NO VEHICLES ARE ALLOWED ON THE BEACH WHILE STAYING AT HOUSES ON THE SUTTONS.

 

Beach Zones


Visitors should be aware of the Windsport Zone to the East. It is strictly not permitted to Kite Surf in any other area of beach other than Broomhill Kite Zone. Windsurfers are permitted in Winter months to operate in other areas. Fishing is also prohibited 1st April- 15th October.
Please be aware that the Dog Exclusion Area is in force from May 1st-30th September. on the central area of beach (see signage).

Motorised Craft


It is not permitted to launch motorised craft, including jetskis, from the foreshore. Rye Harbour is the nearest slipway, and all users must stay south of the buoys marking the safe bathing area at Camber.

 

BBQ’s


Disposable bbq’s are not permitted. However, dedicated bbq equipment may be used on the beach only, but NOT in the Dunes. Any waste must be discarded safely.

 

Sea Safety


Please ensure your stay is a safe and enjoyable one by referring to safety flags that may be flying during Summer Season.
RED= No Bathing, ORANGE= No Inflatable’s (offshore wind).
Please also be alert for Weever Fish notices should they be displayed.
